MEMO
Definition of Memo
A memo is a letter form that is written in a succinct, crisp and clear way that is addressed to a person. Usually the Memo content directly states the intent of the sender, without using parts of the contents of other letters such as, opening greetings, and greetings cover.
The Purpose of Memo
The purpose of Memo is to communicate important things such as a policy change, instruction to conduct a meeting, instruction to do something, direction about something to get done immediately crucial message etc.
Generic Structure of Memo
The Memo consists of several parts (structures) of memo, among others, as follows:
· Addressee (Receiver)
Recipient of the message, the part to whom we write the memo.
· Content
The contents of the message, the core part of the message regarding things that should be known and done immediately by the receiver.
· Sender
The sender of the message, the part that explains who the sender of the memo message is.
Characteristics of Memo
Memos have some features, here are the characteristics of memo features:
- Notes delivered should be clear and continuous to the intent Please complete with reference number, date, case, signature and so on.
- In general, the characteristics that exist in writing an official letter can also be applied in writing memos. It is different from the official letter because it is less formal, more concise and has a copy to it
- The memo is also not bound by any form such as an official letter. The memo may be written in form and may also be in the form of a letter.

Definition of News Item
News item text is a text which informs readers about events of the day. The events are considered newsworthy or important.
It means if there is an important event that should be known by many people, then this event deserves news. Well, the news text is called the news item text. However, if there are events that people do not deserve, then they are not definitely worth to be news.
Generic Structure of News Item

Language Feature of News Item
– Focusing on circumstances (using a simple language in writing the text)

– Using Past tense in explaining news events. But if it is a fact that until now still happen or still in the form of fact, then can use simple present tense.
– Short, telegraphic information about story captured in headline

An explorer has found the biggest insect ever on record – so large it can scoff a carrot. The insect is called a Weta Bug and has a huge wing span of seven inches and weighs as much as three mice.
An entomologist Mark Moffett, 55, discovered the cricket-like creature up a tree on New Zealand’s Little Barrier Island. He spent two days searching for the creepy crawly which were thought to be extinct after Europeans brought rats to the island many years ago.
“This became all the more amazing when we realized that this was the largest insect recorded.” Mark said.

Patient’s Medication Errors
(Reuters Health) - Half of all heart patients made at least one medication-related mistake after leaving the hospital, and guidance from a pharmacist didn't seem to reduce those errors, in a new study.
Consequences of mistakes - such as forgetting to take certain drugs or taking the wrong dose - can range from side effectss like constipation to more serious drops in blood pressure. Two percent of errors were life-threatening.
Hospitals involved in the study were already taking steps to prevent medication mistakes in addition to the extra pharmacist intervention, said Dr. Sunil Kripalani, the study's lead author from the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
"We were surprised to see that in spite of these efforts that 50 percent (of patients) were still having these medication errors," he told Reuters Health.
Although the pharmacist visits didn't help the average patient, he added, certain ones seemed to benefit - such as patients who were on multiple drugs or had trouble understanding health information.
As for traditionally lower-risk patients, he said other strategies to prevent errors may be needed.

PERSONAL LETTER

A personal letter is a type of letter(or informal composition) that usually concerns personal matters (rather than professional concerns) and is sent from one individual to another.
Social function of personal letter:
- To give information
- To tell experience
- To express personal feeling
Generic structure of personal letter
1. The heading
Include writer address, line by line, with the last line being the date
2. The greeting
The greeting always ends with a comma. The greeting may be formal with the word ‘’dear’’ and using the person’s given name or realationship
3. he body/main text/ content
This include the message you want to write
4. The complimentary closure
The short expression is laways a few words for example ‘’sincerely’’, ‘’love’’
5. The signature line
Type or print your name. The handwritten signature goes above the name
6. Postscript
If your letter contain postscript, begin with P.S. and end it with your initials. Skip a line after the signature line to begin postscript.
